game #4 – we win again………………………………………….. by forfeit.

October 11th, 2007

Yes, another forfeit by other team, S.W.A.T.  Sigh.. I want to play and win for reals!!!

Anyway, we play beachbody.com next week.  They better be there!!!  I saw them play a little bit (was game after ours) and they are pretty bad.  We better win the next game or I will be sad.

I’ve been practicing and working out quite a bit so i’ve been preparing as much as I can.  I jammed by pinky finger (we played a quick game yesterday since we had the court to ourselves for 1 hour) and it hurts to hit the left shift key :’(.. I hope it heals soon.

This weekend (starting Friday) I will be going to Vegas for a bachelor party.   I don’t like Vegas much (I don’t gamble) but it seems to be a popular destination for a bachelor party.  We’ll see how fun it is.. supposedly we will do gokarting and mountain climbing.  That should be fun!

I guess I can always drink scotch and sit back and enjoy the other guys make fools of themselves… :-P

basketball game #4 tomorrow

October 8th, 2007

Game #4 tomorrow.  Hope we win!

The team forfeited the last game so maybe we will.  Hopefully, not as I want to win fairly. :D

10/3 – basketball!

October 3rd, 2007

We won our first game basketball game today and I’m very excited.  Well, not 100%, because the other team forfeited!  But, oh well, we won our first game and that is what counts.

Now that we have won our first game, we can use that as momentum for the next game.  We will hold our heads high while we walk onto the floor next Tuesday :-P

So, instead of playing the other team, we went ahead and just ran some practice while we were there.  Might as well use the 1 hour we paid for to play a few quick games.  It was nice for me since I was in Shanghai, I didn’t get a chance to exercise too much (maybe, at most, twice).  I’m just barely getting back into playing again and hopefully I can “bring it” next Tuesday. :)

I just wanted to express my joy to all of you reading this blog.  Thanks for reading…

thoughts for 10/2

October 2nd, 2007

I’ve been ignoring my blog and my fans are very anxious to read the next entry in my blog (notably Z).  Today was a pretty busy day.. I’ve started my PMP class at UCLA extensions and it’s getting to be tedious already :-P .  I’m also preparing for my basketball league game tomorrow night (6:45).  It’s going to be very exciting and tiring.  Our team lost by 30 points last game (9/25) and most of the teammates are devastated.

I don’t think we should be devastated.  It is a tough league and we have only played together for *2* games!  It’s mostly about teamwork and we definitely do not have it yet.  At least for another season of playing (we only play 10 league games).  I don’t think we should fret at all just keep playing hard.

I’ve also started playing this online web game called Travian (www.travian.us).  It’s a little odd at first but seems ok.  It’s similar to Warcraft (www.blizzard.com) and a lot of it strategy.  When do you upgrade your clay pits?  When do you upgrade your wood?  These are all questions while you play the game and everything is very time dependent.  At least for the first week, no one can attack you.  This way you can setup your defenses, etc before anyone can attack you.

So, like I was saying, I’m very excited about tomorrow’s basketball game.  I think it will be a close game (the team we are playing tomorrow forfeited the last game – not sure why) but they didn’t do as well their first game.  Maybe we will get our first win?  Who knows….  stay tuned on that for tomorrows blog.

Also, Morrissey is going to be in LA in October.  Maybe I will get to go… hmmm…

Maybe I will finish part 2 of the Shanghai  trip at some point this week.

Ok, it is getting late here in LA… time for bed.  Au revoir!

Shanghai trip (so far from 9/9 to 9/22) – part I

September 23rd, 2007

Been in Shanghai since 9/9 for work and even though I haven’t been doing too much work, it’s been an interesting visit. I have never visited China and haven’t traveled internationally since 1989 (S. Korea) when I was about 12 years old or so.

When I arrived at the Shanghai Pudong airport, I looked out of the window of the airplane and I didn’t see anything more than rice patties and buildings with blue tops. When we finally landed, I was so surprised at how the modern looking the airport was. I finally heard it was recently built and you could totally tell from the looks of it.

After we got our bags, we met our driver and he then took us to our hotel (Ramada Plaza) in the city. It’s a pretty nice hotel (I wish I stayed the Le Meridien next door), but this hotel is fine. My coworker and I were hungry so we decided to eat downstairs at the Comely Restaurant. Bad choice… horrible food, IMO. They touted western food, but, wow.. the food was really bad. Even at 8pm China time, I couldn’t fathom downing it. I think the crappy Heinekin was the best part of the meal!

I think the biggest thing we noticed while walking on Nanjing Road was everybody asking if we wanted the lady bar (more my coworker since he looks like a dumb white American :-P ) and how annoying it can be. Every 5-10 feet was another guy asking either if we wanted “Watch, Bag” or “lady bar.” They were pretty persistent as well.. even though you say “No”, they keep coming at you! I guess it’s the part of sales…

More to come in part II…
